Introducing Trish Leurck, Senior Director of Hospitality at King-Bruwaert House senior living community in Burr Ridge/Hinsdale
Trish Leurck’s path to senior living has never been about titles. It has always been about people.
With more than 35 years of experience spanning healthcare, philanthropy, operations, and human resources, Trish brings both depth and heart to her new role as Senior Director of Hospitality at King-Bruwaert (K-B) House in Burr Ridge/Hinsdale. Her career, largely rooted in the nonprofit healthcare space, has been defined by service, relationships, and a genuine connection to older adults.
“I’ve always gravitated to being in a healthcare service environment,” she said. “It’s a natural fit for me.”
A Career Built on Purpose
Trish’s journey began shortly after college, when she accepted an entry level marketing position at a hospital operated by an order of nuns. That first role set the tone for a career grounded in mission driven work.
“I enjoyed that it was faith based, and it was a great opportunity,” she recalled.
Over the years, she embraced a wide range of roles in different settings, gaining experience in fundraising, communications, and operations. That versatility eventually led her to launch her own boutique consulting firm, where she leveraged decades of relationships to open doors, make introductions, and support organizations in which she believed.
It was through that consulting work that she first deepened her connection with K-B House.
From Consultant to Leader
Initially brought on to support special projects, Trish quickly became an integral part of the organization. She worked closely with leadership and the board of directors, contributing to communications, fundraising initiatives, and strategic efforts including the launch of The Gardens independent living apartments.
“I worked on newsletters, writing, and special projects, as well as fundraising and communications for residents, families, and staff,” she said.
When the opportunity arose to step into a full-time leadership role, the decision was natural.
“I felt invested in the organization,” she said.
Now as Senior Director of Hospitality, Trish oversees a wide range of resident facing services including culinary, housekeeping, life enrichment, resident services, and chaplaincy. It is a role that reflects both her breadth of experience and her passion for creating meaningful daily experiences.
“I like how comprehensive the position is,” she said. “There’s truly something different every day.”
A Unique Community, A Shared Commitment
For Trish, King Bruwaert House stands apart.
“I always viewed it as regal and estate like. It’s stunning, gracious, timeless, and very niche,” she said. “There’s nothing else like it. It has its own thumbprint.”
She is especially drawn to the organization’s independence and collaborative leadership structure.
“We’re a standalone community so we don’t have to run anything up a corporate ladder. We make decisions together, alongside a dedicated board, to continue serving a mission that began more than 100 years ago. That’s very unique in today’s senior living space,” she said.
That sense of accountability extends across the organization, from leadership to residents themselves.
“Organizational stewardship is top of mind,” she said. “We’re accountable to the board, to our team, and to our residents – who are incredibly engaged and business savvy. They expect excellence, and that’s a good thing.”
Leading with Integrity and Collaboration
As she continues to grow into her role, Trish is focused on listening, learning, and supporting the team around her.
“I want to understand each role with fresh eyes and help however I can,” she said. “If I can make life easier for our team and bring forward ideas that benefit them and ultimately our residents, that’s success.”
She describes her leadership style as fair, honest, and collaborative.
“I won’t ask anything of my team that I wouldn’t do myself,” she said.
Looking Ahead
At the core of Trish’s vision is a commitment to sustaining what makes K-B House special while continuing to evolve.
“I want us to remain competitive and continue to serve our mission,” she said. “And in everything we do, we keep the resident top of mind.”
For Trish Leurck, hospitality is not just about services. It is about creating an environment where residents feel comfortable, engaged, and truly at home and where families feel confident in the care their loved ones receive.
It is a philosophy that aligns seamlessly with the legacy of K-B House and one that will help shape its future for years to come.
