King-Bruwaert House, a not-for-profit charitable continuing care retirement community in Burr Ridge, IL, has begun springtime construction for its planned campus expansion. Starting the week of March 21st, the main skilled nursing wing, known as Health Care, will be demolished to make way for a new skilled nursing wing which will consist of two, 14-bed neighborhoods on two sperate floors. The new wing will offer state-of-the-art amenities with the same high-level care in which KBH is known. Dedicated support will also be provided to those in the skilled nursing wing who require memory care assistance.
Each neighborhood will consist of a dining room; living room; activity room; visiting rooms; large, private bedrooms with private bathrooms, and other new amenities. “We are truly excited about our expansion which includes major improvements to our skilled nursing neighborhoods,” said CEO Terri Bowen. “For years we have been discussing these projects and now we are moving forward with excellent opportunities for so many people who have been interested in being part of our wonderful community.”
The expansion will be one of the biggest projects ever undertaken by KBH in its long history. In addition to the renovation of Health Care, KBH will also construct The Gardens of King-Bruwaert House, an exciting new development to be built on the 35-acre campus located at 6101 S. County Line Road in Burr Ridge. The 44 independent living apartment homes will bring spacious luxury residences just east of the current Georgian Manor home. The new project will feature classic Georgian architecture that will blend gracefully into a wooded, picturesque setting. The new homes are just steps away from a walking path, two ponds, gardens, fenced-in dog park and a tributary of Flagg Creek. Both Health Care and The Gardens are slated to open towards the end of 2023.
